JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, this talented individual will work with mid-to-senior level management to identify and help implement improved business practices. The Senior Internal Auditor will plan and execute internal audits in the areas of compliance, operations and finance using best in class practices. As part of the team, the Senior Internal Auditor will be mentoring more junior staff. In addition, this individual will participate in special projects as required to support the rapidly growing and changing needs of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the broader team, execute the annual Internal Audit Plan through the performance of complex assurance, forensic, and consultative engagements aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate processes.
- Present audit reports and findings to mid-to-senior level management and collaborate with them in the implementation of risk mitigating controls and processes.
- Identify areas to improve the function's processes and procedures to enhance the speed and quality of audit output and delivery.
- Lead multiple projects while maintaining prioritization, scope and collaborating cross functionally to meet agreed upon timelines.
- Some travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) is required
- CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and/or equivalent professional risk management or audit designation(s), an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of audit principles and practices, with a minimum of 5 years (post designation).
- Post-Secondary Degree specializing in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with report writing and delivering presentations.
- Strategic thinker, with advanced analytical and critical thinking skills and an agile mindset.
- Proven ability to work independently, with limited required direction and guidance, and ability to provide appropriate direction to other project team members.
- A high degree of personal integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
- Experience leveraging data analytic tools to achieve project deliverables.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on MS Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
- A valid driver's license is required.
