JOB DESCRIPTION
J.D. Irving, Limited is currently seeking Interpretive Guides/ Maintenance Workers for the Irving Nature Park in Saint John, NB for the 2025 operating season.

  • Location: Irving Nature Park, in the heart of Saint John
  • A flexible term employment from April/ May until the end of October/November with possibility of extension.
  • Students and recent graduates in Forestry, Environmental Management, (etc.) are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing nature interpretation to children and adult visitors, as well as youth and community groups.
  • Coordination and delivery of various interactive educational programs and events.
  • Interacting and maintaining positive public relations with Park visitors.
  • Walking and inspecting trails to ensure positive user experience and safety.
  • Carrying our various maintenance duties including keeping the park clean of debris, lawn mowing, and maintaining the various picnic areas, playgrounds, buildings, and road systems.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects and mulching trails.
  • Maintaining positive public relations with Park visitors.
  • Ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interpretive skills relating to local flora and fauna.
  • Excellent oral communication skills. Ability to tailor speech and messaging to various audiences.
  • Available to work on a rotating schedule which includes evenings and weekends.
  • Motivated to work with minimal supervision.
  • Committed to top performance in a safe work environment.
  • A related post-secondary education in Forestry or Environmental Management or equivalent experience.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
