JOB DESCRIPTION
The Material Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining ISI tooling and equipment inventory levels in tool cribs and sourcing applicable nonstock requirements to ensure we have the right tools at the right time for the right cost. This role manages the process for calibration and certification of tools and equipment. Additionally, the Inventory Control Specialist are responsible for process maintaining maintenance spare parts and inventory to support maintenance activities. Key communicator with ISI value streams to ensure requirements are meet for all consumables shop supplies and small tools working closely with supervisors and managers to meet needs for production, maintenance, and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintaining tooling and consumable inventory levels
- Review stock levels and item utilization
- Work with Production to forecast requirements
- Maintains process and workflow for tool related activities
- Maintain inventory management systems and reports
- Utilize CribMaster software to manage and report on inventory levels
- Manage materials at our onsite/offsite location preparing for transfer between sites as needed
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in business improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve our tooling and equipment processes.
- Identify internal and external process gaps, lead initiatives to close the gaps
- Participate in key performance indicator initiatives
- Propose process improvements
- Researching and development with Industry for tooling and consumables testing and implementing improvement opportunities with focus on safety, increased durability, and efficiency
- Liaise with Production to recognize and offer solutions which will reduce cost, downtime, increase efficiency and productivity
- Customer Service
- Act as a key liaison and develop strong relationships Building and maintain relationships with vendors and ISI departments
- Interact with key stakeholders such as Production
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- Post-Secondary diploma or equivalent
- Experience:
- 1 - 3 years of experience in Material Control Operations and Methods with knowledge of industrial manufacturing
- Experience with trade tools and consumables used in an industrial manufacturing or shipbuilding
