JOB DESCRIPTION
Providing production support through the analysis and reporting of Accuracy Control data collected throughout the shipbuilding process. Field surveys are performed using a variety of metrology equipment and software to obtain measurement results and recommend action. Proactive, daily interaction with the tradespeople ensures the accuracy of structural fabrication and equipment installations at each stage of construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collecting, processing, and reporting of Accuracy Control data from interim products throughout the shipbuilding process. Data is collected in the field and post processed using Spatial Analyzer Metrology software. Reports are sent electronically, and results are communicated in person to the front-line supervisor.
- In field support for special installations such as critical foundations, shaft alignment, combat systems, radar, and surveillance systems using high precision electronic and optical metrology equipment.
- Reviewing Accuracy Control Plans and Unit Integration Files to gain an understanding of the unit assembly sequence and what checks are required.
- In house checks on survey equipment to ensure they are performing to specification.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- Post-secondary education in Geomatics or Engineering, or Red Seal Tradesperson with 3+ years in shipbuilding industry
- Experience:
- 3+ years in a related position; Production Engineering, Ship Fitting, or Surveying
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
