JOB DESCRIPTION
The Ship Repair Associate will perform and/or supervise general physical activities to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment. Manage verification, acceptance, counting, and inputting into CSNX system of all incoming goods and their condition.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the workload daily and working together with the supervisor and team
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Completing all receiving/shipping/picking/packing as required for quality control
  • Print and process various documents, e.g., picklist, packing list and bill of landings
  • Ensure shipping and receiving documents are completed and correct
  • Load and Unload inbound and outbound freight
  • Audit material and documentation for accuracy
  • Completing necessary inventory checks and counts
  • Pick material for customer orders, assemble material and kit appropriately for shipment to customer
  • Verify load security/accuracy and prepare trucks for loading
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills both written and spoken
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive, manual material handling without restriction requiring (but not limited to) the following physical abilities: kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and grasping
  • Willingness to learn and adaptable to change
  • Operates with utmost professionalism and confidentiality
  • Previous experience in using RF Scanners, and general warehouse duties is an asset
  • Strong computer skills, specifically shipping software
  • Experience in logistics, dealing with various freight/courier partners
  • Forklift License an asset

All employees of Bayside Distribution must obtain and maintain a personal security clearance and controlled goods approval. To obtain these clearances the applicant must not have resided outside of Canada for a period of six months or more within the last five years. These clearances require police, employment and personal references.

Bayside Distribution is a J.D. Irving company, and established roots in 2020 in Halifax Nova Scotia. The Bayside warehouse operation is a critical component of the Irving Shipbuilding supply chain, warehousing and shipping parts to build the Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessels and the new River Class Destroyers for the Royal Canadian Navy. Over the next 30 years Bayside will supply parts to build over 20+ ships for the Royal Canadian Navy as a part of the largest defense procurement project in Canadian History.
