JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sawmills Division is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our Grand Lake Timber team in Chipman NB as a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Technologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide key technical support for the mills by supervising and training operating, electrical, and maintenance employees on the electrical equipment, electrical components, electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation and circuitry.
  • Evaluate system performance.
  • Diagnose causes of electrical malfunctions or equipment failure and provide support in the case of equipment breakdown.
  • Provide technical leadership and support for analysis, design, installation and testing of electrical system, electrical control equipment, instrumentation, circuitry, motor-control devices and other electrical equipment.
  • Ensure new installations are completed and operation is conducted in accordance with the Irving design, operating and quality specifications.
  • Coordinate, identify and establish electrical equipment operating standards and standard operating procedures.
  • Plan and inspect the installation, modification, testing and operation of new electrical systems and equipment.
  • Resolve issues encountered during all phases of installation, commissioning, and start-up of systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 8 years experience
  • Electrical & Instrumentation Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong technical ability and knowledge of PLC.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, set priorities, multi-task, and see projects through to completion.
  • Understanding of quality and timeline expectations from all work streams.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative. Ability to take action to resolve issues that may arise.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad would be an asset.
  • A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative.
  • Valid driver's license.
