JOB DESCRIPTION
The Relief Mechanic will be responsible for keeping mechanical equipment operating in excellent condition by carrying out preventative, predictive, proactive maintenance, rebuilds, repairs and general maintenance as required. This person reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Shift Manager and interacts with all employees in the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to Plant Safety Protocols.
- Participate in meeting the Maintenance and Reliability Department's Key Performance Indicators
- Execute scheduled maintenance activity and meet schedule compliance targets.
- Lock and Tag equipment in preparation for maintenance activities
- Carryout non-intrusive and intrusive inspection of mechanical equipment
- Carryout repairs and adjustments of mechanical equipment
- Participate in equipment failure investigations/ Root Cause Analysis
- Participate in Process and Reliability improvement initiatives
- Record, update, and maintain Key performance indicators
- Create work requests in Computerized Maintenance Management system and follow up correction through backlog tracking/ planning meetings
- Participate in planning and scheduling meetings
- Participate in Daily meetings as required
- Maintain 5S in lubrication room and office area.
- Maintain equipment and tools in the lubrication storage room
- Maintain and properly store maintenance records.
- Carryout housekeeping after maintenance activities
- Provide relief for 12-hour Shift Mechanics if needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous industrial plant maintenance experience
- Word Processing using Microsoft Word
- Create Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
- Utilize Microsoft Windows operating system
- Grade 12 education
- Journeymen Millwright, Industrial Mechanic status, Welder, or equivalent trade
- Able to work 8-hour shifts
- Able to work additional hours or on weekends as required
- Able to work well with minimal supervision and alone for extended periods
- Work in a safe and efficient manner
- Have up to date tickets for associated duties of the position
- Read and interpret P&IDs, Electrical Schematics, Hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
- Working knowledge of Pumps, Gearboxes, Electrical Motors, Conveying systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
