What is the opportunity?
As a member of the RBC Capital Markets Productivity & Efficiency (P&E) team, you will support our strategic efficiency efforts across businesses and functions. Our mandate is to enhance cost transparency to introduce new ways of identifying efficiencies to enable continuous investment in future growth.

We're seeking a highly skilled Summer Intern to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be someone who excels at working independently while also possessing the ability to collaborate effectively with the team as needed. This role demands an individual with strong critical thinking skills and a capacity for independent decision making.

What will you do?

• Apply exceptional business acumen and strategic/financial analysis to support the execution of projects and/or project tasks, including planning, analysis, industry trends, assessment of alternatives, developing recommendations, and communication of results
• Understand linkages between, and help cultivate P&E mindset, into plans, forecast, business strategy documents, business cases
• Regularly report progress of work stream status, milestones, achievements, and risks/issues in both formal and informal settings
• Support other team members to manage workstreams and present deliverables

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

• Experience with business problem solving and financial analysis
• Excellent business communication skills
• Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, lookups), with a particular emphasis on storyboarding with the ability to create strong presentations
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize and get things done

Nice-to-have:

• Previous co-op/internship experience in a similar role
• General knowledge of Capital Markets industry/products (e.g. Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets, etc.) and/or experience in Financial Management, Analysis and Planning, with strong Financial acumen and the ability to analyze and work with key business drivers (NIE, NIBT, RoE, etc.)
• Understanding of zero based budgeting / cost efficiency
