The Onboard Support Coordinator reports to the Train Manager and is accountable to all onboard leadership. This position is responsible for supporting the Front of House and Culinary teams as well as maintaining appropriate inventory stock levels.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive. This position requires the incumbent to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, team members, the public, property, or the environment.

Key Areas of Accountability

Onboard team support

• Responsible managing inventory levels of merchandise, consumables, and supplies for all railcars

• Distribution of onboard supplies, merchandise and food throughout the train

• Organization and maintenance of additional supply cars in tandem with the Onboard Cleaners

• Work with the Onboard Cleaners, to facilitate crew car set up and maintenance

• Oversee the crew meal program while adhering to all proper food handling standards

• Support Rocky Mountaineer's green initiatives and recycling programs

• Other duties as assigned by Onboard Leadership

Ordering and inventory maintenance

• Work with the Onboard Leadership team to review and order all supplies and culinary products

• Act as primary liaison with the supply and distribution teams in Kamloops and Vancouver

• Maintain first aid supplies onboard the train

Health and safety awareness

• Adhere to onboard radio protocols

• Adhere to onboard safety protocols

• Comply with railway safety standards

• Report any violations or hazards to onboard management

• Support onboard management during any first aid occurrences

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Knowledge

• High school diploma or equivalent an asset

• First Aid certification is an asset

• Food Safe certification is an asset

• Valid ID to satisfy domestic travel requirements (passport, driving license)

Experience

• Experience in an administrative or logistics capacity in the hotel, travel or tourism industry

• Experience using a POS system considered an asset

Skills

• Intermediate time management, organization skills and attention to detail

• Intermediate interpersonal skills and guest service excellence

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office

Work Environment

• Safety-sensitive environment with exposure to railway operations

• Able to travel away from home base for up to 6 days at a time

• Exceptional physical endurance and emotional resiliency with the ability to work long days

• Occasional outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions

• Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada through the end of the season (April - October)

Hourly Wage: $24.55/hour
