Working with the Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate will:
1. Greet members, answer questions and welcome new or prospective users to the Newmarket Fitness Centre.
2. Use excellent customer service skills to resolve conflicts or concerns from program participants and members, or refer to the appropriate staff
3. Manage the day to day operations of the Fitness Centre and its programs. This includes equipment management, light cleaning and member support.
4. Ensure safe and proper usage of all equipment within facility. Report any issues, concerns and feedback to the Recreation Programmer.
5. Monitor membership validation, program attendance, incoming inquiries, and day-to-day administrative functions.

Job Requirements-
Post-secondary courses in Recreation, Business Administration, Office Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fitness certifications would be an asset.

Active in the field of fitness and knowledgeable in all aspects of equipment, wellness, basic training principles, fitness theory ad components of a work-out from proper stretching, warm-up, cardiovascular training, strength and resistance training and cool down.

Strong leadership and customer service skills with the ability to interact with a diverse population of patrons, general public and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision. Excellent ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively, tactfully and courteously with all levels of staff, the general public and program participants.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple conflicting demands in a professional manner.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook) and demonstrated comfort level with the internet. Knowledge of Point of Sales (POS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions, and the Xplor systems, would be an asset. A proven aptitude for learning software applications is required.

Available to work flexible hours (e.g. day, evening, weekend).

Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.

Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
