Job Description
This Camp Director will oversee our Adapted Camps, specifically designed for children & youth with disabilities and additional needs.

The Successful Candidate Will:
1. Be the on-site lead, supervise and mentor camp staff and volunteers through ongoing coaching, formal performance evaluations and discipline, when necessary.
2. Manage day-to-day camp operations and ensure safe delivery of camp programs.
3. Plan, coordinate and implement the delivery of safe camp programming and special events.
4. Be the main point of contact for parents/guardians regarding camper well-being, and sign in/out, as well as for staff regarding program planning, camp documentation, break scheduling, inventory checks, supply order requests, and feedback to Camp Coordinators.
5. Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance.
6. Collaborate with outside user groups to ensure all parties are on the same page in delivering safe and quality programming. User groups may include Aquatics, Facilities, Customer Service, Special Guests, Bus Drivers, Vendor Camps, etc.
7. Respond to enquiries and provides quality customer service to participants, parents/guardians, and general public.

Job Requirements- Post-secondary education in related discipline (such as Recreation and Leisure, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning and execution of day camp activities, working with children.
- Experience in a supervisory role in a related field
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public, participants, parents/guardians of participants and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and capable of dealing with multiple situations at once in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, instructional, written and program delivery skills.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.
- Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required.
- Behaviour Management Systems, Safe Management or Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification required.
- Lifesaving Society's Safeguard certification required.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town (Those 18 Years & Older) or the completion of Declaration of Minors - Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration Form (Those 17 Years and Younger) is required.
Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
