McMaster Children's Hospital (MCH) has been providing care to children from across the region since 1988. Here, patients ranging in age from infancy to 17 benefit from a family-centred approach that prioritizes the child's emotional, mental and physical well-being. The hospital is home to the fastest-growing kids-only emergency department in Ontario, one of Canada's most advanced neonatal intensive care units, and a range of programs and clinics with unique expertise in a number of areas including children's cancer, digestive diseases, and mental health.
*Position Summary*
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at McMaster Children's Hospital is comprised of a Level III NICU, a Level IIc nursery and a neonatal transport team, providing medical and surgical care to neonatal patients and their families. Our NICU serves a broad geographic area within southern Ontario. The interdisciplinary team provides family-centered care with a strong focus on evidence-based best practice and continuous quality improvement. McMaster NICU is also actively involved in a number of collaborative quality improvement initiatives provincially, nationally and internationally.
Our NICU Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) are assigned to the special care areas and are responsible for respiratory care in these areas. RRTs also provide education to nurses, other healthcare professionals and students throughout the unit. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to, such tasks as patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, committee work, and assisting in research.

Rotating days, nights, weekends and holidays.
*Qualifications*
* Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy
* Current Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
* Successful Completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam
* Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
* Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
* Demonstrated knowledge of ventilator requirements for the micro premature population
* Demonstrate the philosophy of Family Centered Care
* Demonstrate knowledge of developmental care
* Willingness to Precept respiratory therapy clinical students
* Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning
* Experience, within the last 2 years, in a level 3 NICU is preferred
* Experience, within the last 2 years, attending high risk deliveries is preferred
