What You'll Be Doing
You'll be joining CIBC's Infrastructure Operations group within Technology Operations and will be at the heart of CIBC's technology transformation. As a Director, Application Operations, you will direct the application operation services and support for Personal and Business Banking Technology. This role focuses on directing and managing application operations and supporting the delivery of application development projects; and facilitating smooth workflow of the department to ensure high standards and quality of technical work. The incumbent will assist in shaping the strategic technology direction and evolution in accordance with the business agenda, determine technology optimization, appropriate risk management, and provide maintenance capabilities for retail Technology's critical applications and processes to meet current and future business needs.

How You'll Succeed

Strategic Development & Execution: You'll deliver infrastructure services to support Application Operations needs, as a part of an integrated business and technology roadmap, align all technology application services to support those needs, and deliver against them. You will ensure operational efficiencies while mitigating risk, implement new technologies and strategies supported at the enterprise level including Cloud and DevOps adoption while ensuring alignment to existing technologies, policies, and procedures. You'll implement infrastructure components for projects in support of business initiatives ensuring compliance to regulatory controls, standards, general operating or application specific requirements while managing risks and tradeoffs.

Strong Leadership: You will lead, motivate and coach a team of up to 80 employees and contingent workers on an on-going basis. You'll create a positive work environment by being an effective role model through championing CIBC's mission, vision, and values. You'll lead by directing, motivating, developing and managing the performance of your team, maximizing their contributions and professional growth while sharing knowledge and collaborating to come up with effective solutions to problems, including assigning and manage resources as required to ensure effective project delivery.

Relationship Management: You'll manage business partner relations with Application Development, and other counterparts in Technology, Infrastructure Innovation. You will need to uphold best practices, standards, and governance controls for the group and technology vendors while ensuring the application services best practices reflect appropriate technological developments for a competitive business position. You'll partner with both internal and external service providers to ensure the delivery of infrastructure within the approved costs and collaborate and support other AO teams in the delivery of support and technology modernization that address strategic and operational business agendas.
Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience in: managing an operating budget of approximately $1-2 million; building and managing effective teams to meet full-time, on-shore, off-shore, and matrix reporting requirements; and implementing strategic team goals and OKRs. It is an asset if you have experience leading within an Agile environment and working with DevOps concepts, CICD pipelines and implementation methodologies.
