We have an excellent opportunity to join one of Waterloo Region's top employers as a Data Engineer in our Innovation department. Reporting to the Head of Data & Insights, the Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, data modelling, and data integrity/validation to support internal partners and our external members. The Data Engineer will support the current business and data infostructure, as well as support the transformation aligning with our new strategic data imperatives. Data Engineering core activities such as data ingestion, data modelling, data processing and supporting data governance. Perform data analysis and profiling, while maintaining and updating internal and external datasets. Extract, clean, prepare and present data for different lines of business across the organization. Build and maintain data pipelines through data integrity and validation. Support current business and data infostructure, as well as support the transformation of new data infrastructure initiatives. You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math or a related field. You have at least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering experience with strong foundation in data modelling & analytics Experience with Cloud Architecture and Computing, such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure, along with cloud and data processing technologies such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, AWS Glue, Google DataFlow, Data Fusion etc Experience with scripting and data manipulation languages such as SQL, Python, Spark, Scala, R, Java Experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau and/or PowerBI Experience with DevOps concepts and tools, such as building CI/CD pipelines Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile Frameworks Proven analytic skills, including data mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization Prior experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques Recognized as one of Waterloo Area's Top Employers 2023 as well as one of Canada's Greenest Employers 2023, at Farm Mutual Re we are committed to inclusion for all and cultivating belonging where everyone can be their authentic and best selves.
