About Polar Energy Services:

Polar Energy Services Inc. (PESI) is a subsidiary of Polar Racking Inc and provides project management, construction management, installation support, QA/QC, training and commissioning, and other field service operations to our broad spectrum of customers across North America. We operate either as a specialized subcontractor ensuring best practices on the foundation installation, racking installation and module installation scopes of the projects, and in the instances where we are not the subcontractor, we support EPC's and large institutional asset owners in achieving these standards.

The Opportunity:

PESI is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Analyst to join our growing team. This role will be central to evaluating the financial viability of our solar, battery storage, and microgrid projects. You will leverage your analytical skills and understanding of electricity data to develop sophisticated financial models and contribute to strategic decision-making. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain complex financial models in Excel (and potentially other software) for solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and microgrid projects.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis, including discounted cash flow (DCF), net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), payback period, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Analyze historical and projected electricity data (load profiles, pricing, grid tariffs, etc.) to optimize project design and financial performance.
  • Evaluate various project financing structures and their impact on financial returns.
  • Perform market research and analysis on renewable energy technologies, policies, and pricing trends.
  • Collaborate with project development, engineering, and business development teams to gather necessary data and insights.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and summaries of financial analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in due diligence processes for project acquisitions or financing activities.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and evolving financial modeling techniques in the renewable energy sector.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial modeling templates and processes.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
    • 2-3 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within the renewable energy or energy infrastructure sectors.
    • Strong proficiency in financial modeling using Microsoft Excel, including advanced formula writing, data manipulation, and charting.
    • Demonstrated experience analyzing electricity data and understanding its implications for renewable energy project economics.
    • Solid understanding of project finance principles and valuation methodologies.
    • Familiarity with solar PV, battery storage, and/or microgrid technologies and their economic drivers.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
    • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in a relevant field.
    • Experience with financial modeling software beyond Excel (e.g., specialized renewable energy modeling tools).
    • Knowledge of relevant regulations, incentives, and grid interconnection processes for renewable energy projects in mention relevant region, e.g., Ontario, Canada .
    • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Python, R).
    • Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM
