Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Principal Electronics Engineer at Invicton Labs in Ottawa, ON. The employee will be responsible for electronics engineering, circuit design, electronics, electrical engineering, and testing as part of their day-to-day tasks. This role is to lead the electronics engineering for a new project that will last approximately 1 year. Employment may be extended depending on new projects.

Project Description

This role will primarily focus on the design, development, and integration of a multi-function miniaturized PCB that integrates multiple communication standards, data storage, cellular connectivity, GPS, UWB, and power control systems for thermoelectric coolers, refrigeration units, and resistive heaters. It will interface with a wide array of sensors including thermistors, ambient air temperature, infrared temperature, and Hall effect sensors. The employee will be required to design a modular multi-board system with hot-swap capability. The employee will need to review, compare, and select components to achieve a balance of performance, cost, and size, including antenna selection (multi-band vs. single-band) for 5+ communication protocols.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with custom electronics design (graduate school qualifies towards this)
  • Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Circuit Design skills
  • Experience with all common communication standards, including I2C, SPI, QSPI, RS232, and CANBUS
  • Extensive experience with electronics/PCB testing
  • Knowledge of hardware and software integration
  • Ability to debug complex circuits and revise as necessary
  • Experience working with third-party vendors for PCB manufacturing
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or related field
  • Canadian resident, residing in the Ottawa area

Preferred

  • Experience with firmware development (RTOS in C, specifically Zephyr)
  • Experience with the Zephyr operating system
  • Experience with Ultra-Wide Band radios
  • Graduate degree in Electronics Engineering or related field
  • Extensive experience with radiofrequency systems, including antenna design and tuning
