Future/Anticipated Opportunities

WeBuild anticipates begining a large infrastructure project in the Greater Toronto Area and as a result, I am recruiting for the following key individuals for this project:

Project Director: The Project Director shall have the applicable responsibilities set out in this Agreement, including contractual Amendment overview and acting as the overall Project Director. They shall ensure that all activities with respect to the Work is fully integrated with each other. You will also require experience with collaborative contracting regimes, including progressive design-build, alliance or integrated project delivery.

For this position, candidates should have 20 years' experience working on large scale infrastructure project(s) with at least 5 year's experience in a project director role. Experience on at least one project of similar size, complexity and contractual value to the Project.

Quality Director: The Quality Director shall have the responsibilities to oversee the Project overall quality, compliance with the Contractor pre-approved quality system and compliance with our clients quality system and nuclear specific requirements.

You should have 15 years' experience in quality management, with at least 5 years' of quality assurance ("QA") related experience on large tunnel project(s) of similar size, complexity, and contractual value to the Project. In addition, to be considered candidates will require a minimum of 5 years of experience as a QA director.

Project Manager: The Project Manager shall have responsibility for planning and organizing various design, procurement and construction project tasks; estimating and scheduling of the work; managing subcontractors and subconsultants, acting as coordinator among various trades; and communicating effectively with different types of people, from the client's personnel to subcontracted tradespersons.

For this position, candidates will require 20 years' experience on large tunnel project(s) with at least 5 year's experience in a project manager role. Additionally, experience on at least one project of similar size, complexity and contractual value to the Project as well as experience with collaborative contracting regimes, including progressive design-build, alliance or integrated project delivery.

Construction Health and Saftey Manager: The Construction Health and Saftey Manager shall be responsible for developing saftey, security, health and environmental policies, standards, procedures and programs for activities; regulatory affairs and emergency preparedness, ensuring business continuity systems are in place.

You will require related experience n major public construction projects in a lead role as well as the appropriate license or certification such as the IHSA; or Canadian Registered Saftey Professional (CRSP); or demonstrated equivalent.

Design Director: The Design Director shall be responsible for:

  • the preparation, implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of all design;
  • coordinating all designs produced by the design team through all stages of the Project;
  • coordinating with the clients Representative, or Designated Delegates, to prioritize the review of each of the Submittals, if necessary;
  • ensuring the design meets the requirements set out in this Agreement.

We are seeking candidates with 15 years' experience in design management with proven records and at least 10 years' of design management experience on large tunnel projects. You should also have experience with collaborative contracting regimes, including progressive design-build, alliance or integrated project delivery and experience in managing multidisciplinary tunneling designs. Candidates will also require a Professional Engineer license in the Civil Engineer field.

Tunnel Design Manager: The Tunnel Design Manager shall be responsible for design and coordination of all aspects of the tunnels, including:

  • managing the design, coordination, and preparation of Submittals as it relates to tunnel and shafts components;
  • coordinating the interface with the client, Governmental Authorities and key stakeholders;
  • ensuring compliance with the technical and quality requirements set out in the Specifications.

We are seeking 15 years' experience in tunnel and shaft design engineering experience, with at least 10 years' experience managing multidisciplinary design for significant tunnel projects of similar type and financial magnitude. You should also have experience with precast concrete tunnel lining design, shaft design and TBM tunnelling.

Construction Director: The Construction Director shall be responsible for:

  • preparation, implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of the construction component of the Execution Phase;
  • Directing and managing all construction activities for the Project;
  • Overseeing the Work of the construction team and ensuring all construction activities are coordinated in accordance with this Agreement; and
  • Overall compliance of construction and ensuring construction activities are coordinated with the client.

You will require 15 years' experience with at least 10 years' of construction management experience on large tunnel projects in a lead role, and experience with collaborative contracting regimes, including progressive design-build, alliance or integrated project delivery. A Professional Engineer (or equivalent) and/or PMP designation will be an asset.

Tunnel Construction Manager: The Tunnel Construction Manager shall be responsible for all tunnel, shaft and underground construction aspects during the Execution Phase and for ensuring Contractor's compliance with respect to related works under this Agreement.

To be considered, candidates will require 10 years' experience as a Tunnel Construction Manager or Tunnel Superintendent, with at least 5 years' of large (over 10m) tunnel construction management in a lead role. Other experience required for this role include but not limited to:

  • Experience with bored tunnel construction including experience with TBM assembly.
  • Experience with shaft construction.
  • Experience with precast concrete tunnel lining.
  • Experience with tunnel project construction, delivery, and handover of tunnel assets.

General Construction Superintendent: The General Construction Superintendent shall be responsible for all surface-based matters on the Project and for ensuring Contractor's compliance with respect to all construction activities applicable to surface logistics, interface management with client and facilities, surface works, lake-infill works, and forebay modifications.

You will require 10 years' experience as a Construction Manager or General Construction Superintendent on heavy civil projects and experience with heavy civil construction and surface logistics to support tunnelling operations.

Marine Offshore Construction Manager: The Marine Offshore Construction Manager shall be responsible for all offshore construction work and for ensuring Contractor's compliance with respect to all construction activities applicable to the intake shaft, dredging, intake cap and any other offshore work under this Agreement.

For this role, candidates will require 10 years' experience as Marine Offshore Construction Manager for projects of similar size, scope, and complexity, experience with offshore construction, managing marine construction logistics including equipment fleet and personnel, and experience working in navigational channels.
