Acero Engineering Inc. ("Acero"), a growing facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a contract role as a Senior Electrical Engineer/Lead (15+ years of experience).

Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services and construction management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project deliverable lists, schedules, engineering hour estimates, and capital cost estimates for small to large projects.
  • Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients, and vendors during all phases of projects to increase team's efficiency and deliverables quality.
  • Develop hazardous area classification drawings, medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) load lists, power system design/study, power system philosophy and coordination, running/reviewing ETAP or Easy Power reports, PLC and control system architectures, PLC cabinet layouts and I/O schematics, cable schedules, lighting calculations, installation details, electrical building layouts, generator sizing.
  • Develop data sheets, material requisition packages, bid evaluations and purchasing MV and LV switchgear, MV VFDs complete with external heat exchangers, LV VFDs, MCCs, power transformers, protection relays, uninterruptible power supplies, emergency generators, neutral grounding resistors, PLC architecture, cabinet layouts, I/O schematics and communication panels, electrical heat tracing equipment, electrical equipment buildings, cable bus, induction motors, OMNI metering panels and alarm systems.
  • Collaborate with clients, third party contractors, and internal project teams to determine, plan, organize, and supervise project activities and achieve project objectives.
  • Provide appropriate engineering input and technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team.
  • Provide capital, expense and engineering cost estimates for small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines.
  • Field inspection and on-site construction support.
  • Performing all other operations necessary and required to satisfactorily perform the services of Senior Electrical Engineer/Lead, including all necessary work to complete the projects assigned.
  • In addition to "electrical" understanding, I&C capabilities and understanding is extremely beneficial.
  • Other tasks/responsibilities, as required.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in Oil and Gas Facilities in Western Canada
  • Strong knowledge of electrical code, standards, specs etc.
  • Knowledge of CEC and Regulations
  • Understanding and working effectively with Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Powerpoint
  • Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients
