At Knockri, we're building AI-powered interviews that help large enterprises and federal government agencies hire and promote efficiently and equitably. We're in growth mode, and our platform is scaling rapidly to support users across North America, Europe, Asia, LATAM and Australia.

We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the evolution of our backend infrastructure and help scale our systems for global throughput, low latency, and regional compliance. You'll take charge of re-engineering our ML inference pipeline and scaling our web services to support a global user base while ensuring data residency compliance, especially for sensitive jurisdictions like Canada.

What You'll Do

• Architect and scale backend systems to serve a growing global user base with reduced latency
• Rebuild and optimize our ML inference deployment pipeline for high-throughput processing
• Ensure compliance with data residency requirements across regions
• Improve reliability and observability across our backend services
• Collaborate with ML, DevOps, and product teams to build for performance and resilience
• Own and drive engineering solutions from design through production

You Must Have

• 5+ years of backend development experience with proven track record in scaling systems
• Deep experience with Django, GraphQL, and Azure (AKS, Functions, Service Bus, ML Studio)
• Deep experience with relational databases
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and async workflows
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Prefect (or similar)
• A systems-thinking mindset and hands-on problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• Experience building and supporting large-scale solutions with globally distributed users
• Experience working on large-scale AI/ML products
