What you'll be doing:
Lead and manage a team of Technical Leads, Senior Designers, Detail Designers and Associate Detail Designers
Provide specialist engineering expertise to organize and coordinate significant engineering activities, ensuring design objectives are met while maintaining quality, safety, and cost standards
Serve as the main point of contact with clients addressing design-related concerns, ensuring smooth project execution, and maintaining strong working relationships
Assume responsibility for setting the strategy and direction of the team. Manage decision-making, budget allocation, resourcing, and performance reviews, contributing to project delivery and business success
Ensure all designs align with company standards and industry regulations, continuously assessing and improving processes for optimal results
Manage risks, budgets, and resources within the design process, ensuring that technical objectives are achieved while maintaining cost-efficiency
Your skills and experiences:
Proven track record of managing large-scale engineering projects
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in performance coaching, motivation, and development
Customer-focused with excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively
Ability to interpret and communicate technical instructions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Hold a P.Eng certification or actively pursuing one
Possess a degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field

The Detail Design team:
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team within Canada's River Class Destroyer program. As a Senior Team Lead in Detail Design, you will lead a team of Technical Leads and Detail Designers overseeing complex engineering tasks, ensuring quality and cost objectives are met, and preparing for a future management role. You will take on both technical and managerial responsibilities, acting as a key liaison between clients, contractors, and subcontractors while driving the success of the design process.
