Nature of Work

This position entails the responsibility for the management from both the pedagogical and administrative aspects of all the programs and resources of the school in accordance with the Education Act, the School Board and the school mission, the policies, practices and the responsibilities defined by the Central Québec School Board as well as those defined in the Regulation respecting the conditions of employment of management staff of school boards (available by calling Human Resources).

  • Undergraduate degree in Educational Studies or in a relevant field of studies certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position, except a position of manager, in a school board, or hold a position of vice-principal in a school.
  • A Master's university program with a minimum of 30 credits in Management relevant to the position of school administrator. A minimum of six credits must have been obtained before the first assignment. Under exceptional circumstances, the School Board could allow a candidate who has not obtained six credits in Management to have an interview with the selection committee.
  • Eight years of relevant experience.
  • A permanent teaching license issued by the Ministry.
  • Sound knowledge of oral and written English and of French.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of the Québec Basic school regulation for elementary education, of the Education Act, of appertaining policies and regulations as well as a comprehensive knowledge of collective agreements and of the many challenges in the field of education.
  • Demonstrated pedagogical leadership skills and the ability to articulate a clear vision toward the accomplishment of an educational project oriented on student success.
  • An open mind, sound listening skills and sound written and oral communication skills with different stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Team mobilization skills, a sense of initiative and autonomy, sound conflict resolution and problem-solving skills and the ability to make clear and fair decisions that are sometimes hard to make.
  • Excellent administrative management skills, namely to be able to plan, organize and control in the fields of human resources, budget management, material resources and information technology management, and demonstrated leadership skills to hold productive and efficient meetings.
  • High professional standards and ethics and a strong advocate for best practices in teaching.
  • Commitment to maintain a safe, motivating and respectful school climate, where each student can learn, grow and work.
