WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Strategic Planning and Direction
    • Execute strategies developed with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Team within BURNCO's Strategic Plan framework
    • Provide input, and lead policy, cultural, and organizational change
    • Pursue opportunities for vertical integration and business growth
    • Build appropriate relationships in the community, industry and with the local union
    • Lead the collective bargaining process
  • Safety, Environmental Concerns, and Other Risks.
    • Develops, progresses, and works with the HSE team to build world class safety at BURNCO to ensure the safety of our people
    • Ensures safety and environmental concerns are effectively and proactively addressed
    • Manages, directs, and helps others to effectively reduce risks related to safety, quality, insurance, and protection of the company's legacy
  • Business Operations: Ready Mix
    • Pursues long-term maximization of Company profitability and value creation
    • Builds and maintains effective relationships with Customers at senior levels
    • Provides direction and leadership to the Team for achieving and exceeding operational goals
    • Develops, gains approval, and executes business plans to realize forecasts and deliver budgets
    • Set targets and drives operational performance to achieve exceptional results
    • Ensures the company assets are proper maintained for enduring fitness for use
    • Develops capital plans for timely replacement of assets as necessary
    • Works with peers and counterparts to benchmark, develop, and implement best practices for operational excellence
    • Recognizes value and adopts technology/automation as appropriate

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction materials industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
  • Experience in Labour Relations and leading in a unionize environment is an asset

Competencies

  • Ability as a clear thinker to create business plans and execute them effectively
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, customers, and stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and tactically
  • Strong safety and environmental focus, with experience in implementing and maintaining safety programs and policies
  • Strong knowledge of the construction materials industry, including market trends, customer needs, and regulatory requirements.
