Job Summary:

CF Industries is currently seeking a Field Safety Advisor to join our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Department, located at our Medicine Hat Complex. Reporting to the Supervisor, Personal Safety Services, the Field Safety Advisor plays an essential role in ensuring that field safety support is provided to employees and contractors, safety related equipment is serviced and maintained, and CF stays current with respect to company and legislative requirements.

Job Description:

What you'll do:

  • Develop & provide EHS support and leadership to facility personnel through practical knowledge of corporate EHS requirements, professional advice, training, mentoring and coaching with the objective of achieving an incident free workplace.
  • Manage EHS contractors by planning, scheduling and executing work onsite
  • Ensure EHS managed equipment is inspected and maintained at the required frequency.
  • Identify and help interpret current and potential EHS regulatory or corporate requirements that will affect the facility.
  • Work with affected departments to create, implement and maintain EHS policies, programs and processes that meet or exceed the regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of facility EHS processes and identify improvement opportunities where necessary.
  • Facilitate and support CF's incident, near miss and hazard ID reporting and investigation processes with a focus on security and emergency response.
  • Support and facilitate EHS initiatives such as audits, drills and exercises. Provide additional EHS support when requested for turnarounds and outages as required.
  • Proactively work to identify EHS challenges and offer practical solutions/recommendations to resolve the challenges.

Required Skills

  • A ctively working in a field safety role and pursuing accreditation in the safety field
  • Field safety experience with demonstrated results.
  • Organized and schedule driven.
  • Looking to learn new skills and take on challenges

The following would be considered an asset:

  • Industrial plant setting experience
  • Emergency Response training - such as firefighting, high angle rescue, hazardous materials response.
  • Other related EHS experience (Industrial Hygiene, behaviour-based safety, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, electronic information systems and graphics software
  • Leadership: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes to perform successfully in the key areas of People Leadership, Results Leadership, Thought Leadership & Self Leadership.
  • Time Management: Identifies, establishes priorities, and executes tasks to consistently deliver results within required timelines.
  • Complex problem solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Coaching and training: Ability to empower others through active listening, collaboration, training, education and technical advice.
  • Judgment and decision-making: An understanding of your own personal knowledge and limitations when considering long and short-term decisions and recommendations.

This is a temporary, full-time position for approximately 18 months. This position will remain open until April 11, 2025.
