Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - PERMANENT - $95K to $125K + benefits

LOCATION: Brampton, Ontario

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
7 years+ experience in mechanical design
Proficiency with Solid Works a must ; Autocad an asset
Design experience with automotive or machinery or metal forming applications an asset
Understanding of metal fabrication and electrical controls
Experience working within a controlled goods workplace an asset
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Good research skills
Strong communication skills written and verbal
Well organized and self-motivated
Able and eager to learn quickly and adapt within a fast-paced environment
Continuous improvement mindset
Sense of urgency and a team player mindset
Able to work well with stakeholders (internal and external)
Have a valid passport ; able to travel as needed to visit customer location

Duties:

Responsible for planning and preparing a full range of documents including problem analysis, design layout and calculation on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity
Execute assignments requiring independent evaluation and judgment
Select, recommend and prepare preliminary designs
Produce complete plans, apply formulas, principles and practices
Coordinate the design and detailing activities on assigned projects
Work with the Engineering Team directly to execute design tasks related to existing or new products
Liaise with members of the design and manufacturing teams in order to collaboratively develop products such as metal forming machines, transfer tooling presses, etc.
Develop engineering models and drawings for complex equipment with minimal supervision
Check the drawings of other design personnel for completeness and accuracy
Perform tolerance studies on tools for the proper functioning of equipment
