The Roll-Off Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of businesses. The CDL Driver will collect waste from customer sites and transport to post-collection facilities for proper disposal.
This is a seasonal position, ending October 31st
Key Responsibilities:

Operate roll-off truck and associated equipment to collect waste in a safe and efficient manner.

Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, daily truck reports, route sheets, and other required documentation as requested by the supervisor.

Immediately report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to the mechanic and supervisor.

Ensure compliance with route quality standards set by management and maintain service excellence.

Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to minimize driver-induced mechanical failures.

Adhere to safety standards, perform equipment checks, and follow safety precautions in all job tasks. Comply with all relevant federal, state/provincial, local, and company regulations, including any customer-specific rules.

Communicate potential hazards related to waste collection and container servicing to the Supervisor/Lead prior to performing tasks.

Maintain a clean vehicle, including the interior and exterior of the truck.

Report accidents or incidents to supervisors immediately.

Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance when interacting with customers and the public, including while on route or in uniform.

Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, work boots).

Keep accurate records of services performed and report any discrepancies or issues.

Collaborate with supervisors to improve routing efficiencies and optimize performance.

Attend safety meetings, branch meetings, and other required training sessions.

May be required to work overtime as needed.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience or completion of CDL school certification.

Must meet safety-sensitive criteria as per company standards.

Ability to demonstrate safe operation of trucks and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance requirements for safe operation.

Skilled in controlling truck operations and maneuvering the vehicle in tight spaces, including backing up distances of 120 feet or more using mirrors.

Ability to identify hazardous waste (e.g., flammable materials such as gasoline).

Effective communication skills, both with internal and external customers.

Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents, route maps, and written instructions.

Flexibility and commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability to change.

Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Coordination skills to manage two or more limbs simultaneously while sitting or standing.

Strong adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
Physical and Mental Demands:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, hear, and smell as part of job duties.

Visual acuity is required, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and focus adjustment for maneuvering the vehicle in tight spaces.

Must be able to lift and move items regularly, including up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Sitting for extended periods (up to 75% of the time) is required while driving.

Ability to work in noisy environments with frequent exposure to loud sounds.
Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to loud noise, extreme weather conditions (rain, heat, cold), and hazardous chemicals (e.g., fumes, airborne particles).

Work environment primarily outdoors with continuous travel along the assigned route.

Occasional work at elevated heights or in precarious places.

Constant exposure to motor vehicle traffic conditions.

The work environment can be loud, requiring focus and attention at all times.
