Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our team at Warren Gibson Limited, a family-owned transportation company in Alliston, Ontario.

What We Offer:

  • Reward for Retention: $250 after 6 months, $500 after 1 year
  • Annual Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
  • Hourly Wage: $32.00 - $34.00 per hour, paid weekly by direct deposit
  • Shift Incentive: $2.00 per hour for weekday midnight shifts
  • Bonuses: Two $400 performance bonuses annually (pro-rated), two $150 accessory allowances annually (pro-rated)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducting routine and scheduled inspections on trucks, trailers, and other heavy-duty vehicles to identify and address mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues
  • Utilizing specialized diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the source of mechanical problems and provide accurate repair recommendations
  • Inspecting and repairing trailers, including chassis, brakes, suspension systems, and other components to ensure they meet safety and operational standards
  • Executing necessary repairs, replacements, and maintenance tasks on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other components to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition
  • Making certain that all repairs and maintenance activities adhere to company, industry, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborating with other mechanics and departments to maintain an efficient workflow
  • Implementing quality checks to guarantee vehicles meet or exceed safety requirements; keeping detailed records of all work performed
  • Ordering and managing inventory of spare parts and components to ensure their availability for repairs and replacements
  • Staying updated on industry advancements, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance professional skills, knowledge, and development

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Truck Mechanic, Coach Mechanic (310T) and/or Trailer Mechanic (310J) licenses
  • Registered apprentices will also be considered
  • Valid driver's license
  • One year's experience as a Truck Mechanic and/or Trailer Mechanic, preferably in the transportation industry
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and equipment applications is a definite asset
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Exceptional problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and professional discipline about safety regulations
  • Comfortable and familiar with working independently and as part of a team
