Systems are a go for an On-Site Systems Administrator position at Blue Ocean!

About the Job:
As a Systems Administrator, you'll work directly with our VP of Digital Transformation and our Chief Technology Officer to support the technical infrastructure of the entire business. Your focus will be on installing and configuring software and hardware, managing network servers, overseeing technology infrastructure tools, security certificate management, performing upgrades to systems, as well managing disaster recovery of those systems. To do that, you'll need a working knowledge of all the major systems that we use. In addition, you will be creating and maintaining technical documentation, and ensuring there is an accessible library of resources for the organization.
You will be collaborating with people at all levels within Blue Ocean to solve complex problems, so having the ability to communicate effectively and clearly express your recommendations is a must. You're someone who is confident bringing forward solutions and ideas. Here's The Deal:
This is a full-time permanent position that works on-site at our Halifax office.
Flexible start date: Late January or early February 2025.
Schedules include days, evenings, and some weekends as business needs dictate - with a rotation of on-call shifts (on-call bonus paid).
Salary will be determined based on skills and experience.
This position reports to the VP of Digital Transformation.

What You'll Do:
Upgrade, install, and configure software and hardware.
Manage network servers and technology infrastructure tools
Implement and maintain the configuration of applications and infrastructure components
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements. Troubleshoot issues and outages.
Ensure security through security certificate management and maintenance of established access controls.
Maintain disaster recovery backup systems and the associated backup data including verification of recovery procedures.
Develop expertise on new technologies to assist with training requirements - have a working knowledge of all systems utilized by the organization.
Build and maintain an accessible library of technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.
Act as the next level of support for tickets escalated by our internal IT team.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
_Experience & Skills:_
Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
Ability to create scripts in various languages and systems environments
Familiarity with various technologies such as MS Windows on-prem and Azure hybrid domain environments, VMware on-prem virtualization, AWS Virtual Private Cloud and Infrastructure as service components, Veeam Backup, Synology NAS storage, and LogicMonitor systems monitoring
Experience working with server operating systems including Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS
Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
Experience with Windows and Azure domain configuration and management
Experience in environments that involve system interdependencies and how to assess and identify them
BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline - or equivalent experience
