SMART Rehabilitation provides multidisciplinary community rehabilitation services in and around the Kamloops region. Our team works in a variety of settings; including long term care, in client's homes, in the community and in clinic.
We are looking for a _client-focused_ and _solutions-oriented _ Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a part time or full time position. This team member will be working in complex care and case-management including home assessments, equipment prescription, home support recommendations, cognitive rehabilitation, return to work planning and mental health supports. It also includes working in seniors care with mobility assessments, equipment prescriptions, wounds management and more. There will be an opportunity to move into additional areas of practice including but not limited to: Functional Capacity Evaluations, Ergonomic Assessments, PTSD and Mental Health.
In addition to our attractive base salary which starts at $120,000 for a full time OT, our compensation model offers comprehensive benefits not often seen in private-practice. Recent grads are welcome to apply.
Occupational Therapist Duties and Responsibilities
Assess patient home, mobility, daily function and workplace
Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment plans and services
Establish timelines, tasks, and medical needs of the patient
Liaise with other treating medical and rehabilitation practitioners
Develop plans for patients with ongoing pain and chronic conditions
Recommend and educate patients on medical and adaptive equipment
Record patient activities, progress, and improvement
Maintain clinical records of all patient care; fill and document for insurance billing
Educate patient, patient's family, and patient employer (if needed) on special equipment, care, and/or needs
Develop a discharge plan and make referrals for additional resources
Assist and train other professional staff as needed
Occupational Therapist Requirements and Qualification
Master's degree in occupational therapy or equivalent
Applicants must be eligible to register with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC
Must have a valid driver's license, and a reliable vehicle.
Preference is given to those with past experience working in private practice multi-
disciplinary setting or long term care setting.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
Adaptable, flexible, and able to make quick decisions when plans change
Creative and innovative thinker and planner
Encouraging to patients and staff; able to mentor and lead
