Production Operator
The Production Operator will be working on different workstations to perform various production tasks in strict accordance with the production system and under the premise of ensuring safety and product quality. He ensures the activities to maintain the continuous running of the production line as well as to ensure the proper functioning of the various equipment to optimize performance.
In addition, the Production Operator must ensure the product quality demanded and required by company standards and must guarantee the proper functioning of all equipment by reporting any anomalies or malfunctions to his direct supervisor.
Responsibilities
Sorting Operations
- Loading, unloading the raw materials.
- Preparing the packages and removing impurities (wires/straps/other impurities).
- Sorting the raw materials (B&C type PE films); taking out non-PE materials, especially metals and wood.
- Ensuring effective and continuous operation from the feed port to the shredder.
- Feeding raw materials of PE films to the steel conveyor while using tools safely and efficiently.
- Feeding the conveyor adequate portions when there is space for more in the shredder.
- Filling out the report of quality and quantity of the raw materials.
- Following the directives and instructions of his direct supervisor regarding his assignment and rotation to the various workstations.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work areas.
- Complying with occupational health and safety standards (example: wearing PPE, lockout, etc.)
- Following the handover and cleaning procedures at the end of the shift.
Pelletizing Operations
- Replacing and cleaning filters safely when the pressure reaches the required measurement according to the gauge on the control panel.
- Preparing the replacement pellet screen required for the shift based on the type of resins and according to the production plan.
- Cleaning off the vents of the main granulator and the secondary granulator.
- Checking regularly the water levels and the temperature of the main and auxiliary granulation lines in order to maintain good resins.
- Monitoring the quality of the particles (appearance, size, adhesion, and cavity) and preparing samples for testing from each box of the resins.
- Reporting any anomalies or malfunctions of the equipment.
- Filling out the production report during the shift and the machine problems.
- Taking samples for quality tests.
- Hourly recording of the machine setting (temperature and speed)
- Following the directives and instructions of his direct supervisor regarding his assignment and rotation to the various workstations.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work areas.
- Complying with occupational health and safety standards (example: wearing PPE, lockout, etc.)
- Following the handover and cleaning procedures at the end of the shift.
Wash line Operations
- Ensuring the tanks are free of mud.
- Ensuring the pumps are working smoothly and not blocked all through the day.
- Cleaning the friction washers and the pre-washer friction washer.
- Checking the water level in the baths and making sure it is not overflowing.
- Cleaning the plastic that floats on the top of the small tanks.
- Reporting abnormalities to the team leader or the maintenance team immediately.
- Checking the tank in the dryline and making sure it is not blocked with plastic.
- Checking the feeding is even and it doesn't block up.
- Watching the level of the material in the silo.
- Following the directives and instructions of his direct supervisor regarding his assignment and rotation to the various workstations.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work areas.
- Complying with occupational health and safety standards (example: wearing PPE, lockout, etc.)
- Following the handover and cleaning procedures at the end of the shift.
Forklift Operations
- Unloading and preparing raw materials for the shift's production.
- Storing surplus raw materials for future production.
- Packing the resins and finalizing the packages.
- Assisting in the maintenance and transportation of equipment and completing the inspection report before submitting it to his direct supervisor.
- Disposing the garbage collected during production in the dedicated area.
- Preparing enough raw materials needed for the next shift before leaving.
- Keeping the workplace clean and ensuring the garbage tanks are emptied regularly.
- Following the directives and instructions of his direct supervisor regarding his assignment and rotation to the various workstations.
- Complying with occupational health and safety standards (example: wearing PPE, lockout, etc.)
- Following the handover and cleaning procedures at the end of the shift.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 1 year or more of professional experience in the manufacturing field is an asset.
- Familiar with 12-hour shift schedules.
- 1 year or more of experience in the recycling field is an asset.
- Ability to lift weights up to 45 pounds/20 kg.
- Ability to physically bend and frequently lift items when required.
- Fork-lift driving permit through a certified training is an asset. However, on-the-job training and certification can be arranged.
- Ability to work independently and take initiatives.
- Strong team playing mindset.
- Highly reliable and consistent.
- High flexibility and versatility.
- Patient, perseverant and resourceful.
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office application (Outlook)
- Fluent in English or French; bilingualism is preferred.
- Background Checks (References, Criminal and Medical checks) are a must.
