DSI promotes the flow of methodological advancements such as data management, computing, data integration, novel statistical methodology, visualization methods and will facilitate the training of new generations of interdisciplinary trainees. DSI aims to unify and galvanize the core strengths of Toronto's data science community building capacity for data and computational-based projects and training by being the focal point for the coordination of data science activities and partnerships to further elevate UofT's global stature. Your opportunity:

The Data Sciences Institute delivers upskilling data science Certificates that provide technical data science, professional and job ready skills. Under the direction of the Program Manager, Professional Programs, the Learner Recruitment Officer, Professional Programs, is critical to the efficient and effective recruitment and admission of learners to the DSI's professional Certificates. You will be responsible for positively representing the Data Sciences Institute and communications with prospective learners that are fundamental to the successful recruitment of learners. You will be responsible for overseeing the admissions process, advising learners on academic and financial matters, and supporting them throughout the certifications, in order to support and aid in their completion of our programs. You will be responsible for managing all inquiries for the professional programs. The role requires excellent relationship building skills to foster and maintain a network of connections to support recruitment strategies. You will support content delivery by managing access to digital platforms and resources for instructors and learners. Your strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate, navigate, and support learners through their educational experiences will be critical to the continued success and reputation of our data science professional programs, including advancing the University's and DSI's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity. You will work closely with the Faculty of Arts & Science Office of Professional & Lifelong Learning that will deliver job ready and career skills programming.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies and deadlines
  • Delivering student recruitment presentations
  • Developing plans that support recruitment strategies
  • Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
  • Interviewing program applicants; reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into the program
  • Determining which applications to refer to committee for selection
  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform recruitment strategies and plans
  • Determining logistical details required for the execution of admissions processes
Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in data science or related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience. Minimum four (4) years of recent and related experience recruiting professional students in a student service centered environment. Experience advising students with relevant academic guidelines and procedures pertaining to registration, and other relevant information. Demonstrated experience in program recruiting activities, including interviewing applicants, reviewing and assessing applications. Experience developing and presenting content to a diverse group. Experience compiling and analyzing data, writing reports, working on time-sensitive projects and managing multiple and competing priorities. Strong understanding of data science content areas, programs and markets. Experience planning and coordinating online and in-person recruitment events. Excellent attention to detail is critical as the role requires review of documentation to confirm program eligibility. Demonstrated advanced skill with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, Teams and Zoom. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Well-developed project management and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Sound judgment in the handling of sensitive and confidential matters. Ability to meet multiple deadlines.

Note: this is a 6 month term position, with possibility of renewal. This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto's Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.
