About Float

Float is on a mission to simplify finance for Canadian businesses, empowering them to eliminate complexity and unlock new opportunities. Through our innovative platform, Float enables businesses to streamline spending and optimize cash flow, so they can focus on what matters most: growth. As one of Canada's fastest growing companies and top-rated startups in 2024 and 2023, Float is customer-obsessed, passionate, and entrepreneurial, with a team that includes leaders from Uber, Shopify, Top Hat, Ritual, Ada, and more.

At Float, everyone is an owner, bringing their unique perspective to our team and product. Your voice is important, and we take having a culture based on feedback seriously. We openly share our thoughts and differing opinions so we can continue to improve. We do our best to keep our decision-making decentralized so that all team members feel ownership in our success.

Our product

Float is Canada's first finance platform designed to empower businesses with fast, flexible, and accessible financial solutions. Our integrated suite of products—including corporate cards, bill pay, reimbursements, and financial services—rethinks how companies access capital, streamline spending, and manage growth. Backed by world-class investors like Tiger Global, Golden Ventures, and Susa Ventures, we're disrupting the global B2B finance space—and we're looking for bold innovators to help shape the future of business finance.

About the Account Executive role:

Float is looking for an exceptional Account Executive to join our growing sales team. You will play a pivotal role in driving revenue at Float as we move up market. We are looking for someone who has proven and exceptional impact driving revenue in past sales roles and is eager to employ a consultative, cooperative, and solution-oriented strategy, blending strategic insight with highly efficient execution.

As an Account Executive you will:

  • Use a consultative sales approach to guide customers through the sales process, from initial contact to close. Focus on adding value and providing strategic advice rather than just selling products or services.
  • Acquire and form relationships with new customers in the mid-market range with 20-1000+ employees.
  • You'll pursue both individual and team sales goals and consistently hit your monthly targets.
  • Prioritize and maintain pipelines while owning the sales cycle from start to finish - from discovery to demo to negotiation to close.
  • Approach all deals with a customer-obsessed mentality. Develop relationships and uncover the needs of multiple key stakeholders to find value moments.
  • Be the voice of the customer and work closely with our Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated customer experience. Provide feedback from the market to drive product innovation and improvement.
  • Share your ideas and help us build a world class Sales team!
  • Work with the Finance teams of some of the fastest growing companies in Canada across a variety of industries.

Requirements

You'll be great in this role if:

  • You've got the experience. To be successful in this role, we're looking for 5-7 years of B2B tech-sales experience, ideally in a high-growth start up environment. You should also have experience in sales cycles with customers up to 1000 employees
  • You've got an understanding of the market. You've worked with accounting/finance related products, or have worked closely with finance leaders. You're commercially minded, business savvy and no stranger to an ROI mindset.
  • You're results-driven. You have a reputation for exceeding your goals and sales targets, and are motivated by new challenges. You're willing to make tough decisions to achieve broader business goals and outcomes.
  • You're an outstanding communicator. You know how to cater your communication to your audience to gain buy-in, and build commitment with customers. When pitching ideas, you are confident, clear, and organized in your delivery. You have impeccable writing and speaking skills, and can effortlessly connect with any team in an organization.
  • You're empathetic and approachable. You quickly build rapport and credibility with prospective customers, and people are naturally drawn to you. You are a skilled listener who is able to understand and synthesize diverse perspectives and opinions. You're customer obsessed; translating customer needs into product offerings is your speciality.
  • You're adaptable and resilient. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, move quickly, and know how to pivot when faced with objections. Finding creative ways to problem solve and work through obstacles is fun for you. You also know when to slow down and be strategic and thoughtful.
  • You're an owner. You set a high bar for yourself and others, and enjoy fostering a culture of excellence and tenacity. You're eager to roll-up your sleeves to get building and create immediate impact.

Don't meet every single requirement? If you're excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.

This role won't be a fit if:

  • You're not driven by the vision of building Canada's top business finance platform
  • You prefer predictable routines over the dynamic, independent nature of startup culture
  • You aren't comfortable working independently, remotely, or asynchronously
  • You aren't a team player
  • Resilience and openness to direct feedback aren't your strengths
  • You aren't comfortable taking calculated risks
  • You have an ego

Benefits

...and perks of working at Float:

  • Competitive compensation & total rewards
  • Flexible work hours and time off when you need to recharge
  • Small team = lots of autonomy to make an impact
  • Opportunity to work with and learn from a world-class team
  • A personal Float card with a quarterly stipend to spend on what matters most to you
  • A dog-friendly office
  • Being able to say you helped build Canada's best modern financial institution
