Field Consultants is to provide on-site monitoring, inspection, reporting, oversight, and logistical coordination activities for various projects under the direction of the Distribution Construction department.

The Field Consultant will typically serve as a single point of contact between the Construction Manager (or their delegate) and external stakeholders. These services are required to help meet the project's overall objectives.

to work on-site at several designated construction projects, typically scattered throughout the Province of Saskatchewan.

The Field Consultant may be required to provide the Services at more than one site concurrently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordination & Communication:
    • Report to the Construction Manager and collaborate with stakeholders.
    • Work with service providers and contractors to ensure quality service delivery.
    • Participate in project planning and meetings to ensure clear understanding of roles, schedules, and contractual obligations.
    • Address coordination issues and facilitate timely resolutions.
  • On-Site Services:
    • Conduct inspections and oversee testing, surveying, and security.
    • Monitor work progress and coordinate resources to meet project deadlines.
    • Ensure proper permits, construction drawings, and shop packages are available.
    • Manage material delivery, storage, and security.
  • Materials Coordination:
    • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
    • Manage material storage, surplus, and salvage as needed.
    • Coordinate quality assurance and security for materials.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect work performed for quality and track deficiencies and corrective actions.
    • Verify personnel certifications and ensure required training is up-to-date.
    • Arrange third-party testing and quality assurance as necessary.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance:
    • Ensure all personnel adhere to safety and environmental policies.
    • Conduct safety audits and work observations to ensure compliance.
    • Lead or participate in safety meetings and ensure appropriate PPE is used.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Submit inspection, progress, and incident reports as needed.
    • Maintain accurate project documentation including logs, schedules, and reports.
    • Record and report on site conditions and customer feedback.
    • Document safety and environmental incidents.
  • Contract Administration:
    • Review project documentation, identifying issues or omissions.
    • Communicate risks, delays, and budget concerns to stakeholders.
    • Manage change order requests and maintain necessary project documentation.
  • Adherence to Standards:
    • Follow relevant safety, environmental, and industry standards.
    • Work within company values of respect, integrity, and openness.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in anyone of the following;
  • Civil and Duct Bank Field Consultant:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in Civil and/or duct bank projects or equivalent.
    • Knowledgeable in the construction, operation, and maintenance of urban underground electrical utility distribution systems, specifically buried infrastructure.
    • Experience with shoring installation, duct/manhole structure assembly, concrete testing and forming practices, surveying, ground disturbance, and facility daylighting.
  • General Powerline Field Consultant:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in electric utility distribution systems or equivalent.
    • Competency in the construction, operation, and maintenance of urban and rural overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems.
  • Urban Underground and Subdivision Field Consultant:
    • Minimum 5 years of related experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of urban underground utility distribution systems and subdivisions.
    • Knowledgeable in urban underground utility distribution systems, standards, and procedures related to buried infrastructure.
  • Rural Rebuild Field Consultant:
    • Qualified journeyman Power Line Technician with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of overhead and underground rural distribution systems or equivalent.
    • Proficient in rural overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems, as well as live line work methods and procedures.
