Are you skilled in 3D animation software and eager to apply your technical expertise? We're recruiting a 3D Technical Animator for our Vancouver studio. This role involves testing and maintaining animation systems, rigging, pipelines, and processes to support our animation team.
Main Objectives
- Test and maintain animation systems in collaboration with animators and production teams.
- Provide technical support for animation tools and scenes.
- Assist with integrating and validating animation assets.
- Act as a liaison between animation, rigging, and pipeline teams.
Responsibilities
- Master all features and functions of the animation system and tools.
- Oversee and participate in integrating animation assets into production.
- Ensure animation features comply with technical, aesthetic, and production requirements.
- Assess and escalate animation issues when necessary.
- Resolve caching issues in animation shots.
- Research industry tools and animation packages, sharing insights with the team.
- Propose frameworks or concepts for tools to improve animation processes, coordinating with the pipeline team for development.
- Provide technical support to animators to minimize creative limitations caused by technical constraints.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in Mel and Python scripting, animation trees, and similar technologies.
- Strong character animation skills and understanding of animation principles.
- Solid working knowledge of Autodesk Maya and ShotGrid.
- Understanding in rigging, skinning, and related character technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced production environments.
- Organized and methodical approach with high-quality standards.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Adaptable, open to feedback, and flexible in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
- Initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness in problem-solving.
Benefits
Pay Range: CAD $1400 - $1500 per week
