About the Senior UX Researcher Role
We're looking for a creative and customer-obsessed Senior UX Researcher to join Float! In this role, you'll be responsible for helping to define and build a seamless business finance experience based on deep insight of the needs of our customers and Canadian businesses. Your work will impact the entire product platform, from corporate spend management to access to capital.
As the Senior UX Researcher, you will work across our most impactful product development initiatives, partnering closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers. Your expertise in understanding business finance teams and workflows, along with your knowledge of the Canadian financial landscape, will ensure that our products are tailored to meet the specific needs of Canadian businesses.
Requirements
As the Senior UX Researcher at Float you'll…
- Lead end-to-end research initiatives across both software and financial products to uncover user pain points, behaviors, and motivations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive research-based decisions that inform product development strategies.
- Advocate for the user at every stage of the product life cycle, ensuring that our solutions are grounded in real-world insights.
- Conduct a wide range of research methods, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis.
- Develop and present actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.
- Implement a UX research toolkit, bringing your expertise to select the right tools and methodologies for impactful outcomes.
- Provide mentorship to designers and product managers, fostering a culture of user-centered problem solving.
- Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging research techniques to continuously elevate our research practice.
You'll be great in this role if…
- You've got the experience. We're looking for 5+ years of UX Research or Business Finance experience, preferably in B2B SaaS, early to mid-stage startup environments.
- You understand the landscape. Strong knowledge of business finance processes, including spend management, bookkeeping, and Canadian financial regulations.
- You know the toolkit. Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the ability to translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity. You're scrappy and enjoy finding creative ways to work through obstacles. You've taken ownership of the product experience before and have outstanding time management skills.
- You're a strategic thinker. You can create a vision and you know how to communicate it.
- You are an excellent cross-functional communicator. You effortlessly connect with any team in an org, especially Product, Design, and Engineering. You possess astute influencing skills, and you have the ability to bring multiple stakeholders together and problem-solve between various groups. You are a skilled listener who is able to understand and synthesize diverse perspectives and opinions.
- You've got an understanding of the market. You've worked with accounting/finance related products, or have worked closely with finance leaders. You're commercially focused with an understanding of the market and the business we're in. You're no stranger to an ROI mindset.
- You're customer obsessed. You're all about building relationships, understanding customer needs, and advocating for them passionately. You care about the details that matter to them.
- You're an owner. You take complete ownership and accountability of delivery and outcomes. You translate business requirements into technical specifications, overseeing the development process, and ensuring successful deployment. You are ready and willing to make tough decisions to achieve broader business goals and outcomes.
This role won't be a fit if…
- You're not driven by the vision of building Canada's top business finance platform.
- You're not an outstanding communicator.
- You're unable to juggle multiple priorities.
- You work best when a manager is always providing the next project.
- You prefer predictable routines over the dynamic, independent nature of startup culture.
- You're uncomfortable working independently, remotely, or asynchronously.
- You aren't a team player.
- Resilience and openness to direct feedback aren't your strengths.
- You aren't comfortable taking calculated risks.
- You have an ego.
- You like to play politics.
Don't meet every single requirement? If you're excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.
