PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta based company specializing in engineering, design, panel fabrication, and testing/commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances, such as IEC 61850, to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Lines Design Engineer (EIT) or Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our Ontario engineering team. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

Job description

Contribute to the design and engineering execution of transmission projects.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a background and strong interest in power/transmission systems, including knowledge of codes, standards, and common industry practice for medium to high voltage transmission lines. The successful candidate will be given opportunities to undertake conceptual engineering design, analysis, and calculations for proposed projects, as well as review assist with developing deliverables required for the successful energization of overhead and underground transmission projects.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

· Assist in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 500kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility, national or international standards and codes.

· Interact with internal / external contacts as necessary for design details.

· Support Professional Engineers with detailed technical studies and/or calculations; preparation of cost estimates; the creation of equipment specifications and installation standards; requests for quotation; evaluation of new equipment

· Develop material and construction specifications.

· Provide procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations

· Develop overhead and underground structures and equipment structure spotting.

· Design and evaluate various electrical equipment components.

· Aid in the preparation of design packages for client reviews and construction.

· Escalate design issues to Professional Engineers for review and direction

· Perform calculations related to the design of overhead and underground systems.

· Review of designs to ensure accuracy, perform quality control and quality checks prior to project release.

· Support project co-ordination documentation and activities.

· Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.

· Carry out site visits with Professional Engineers to support engineering and construction

Qualifications

· Diploma or Bachelor in Civil or Electrical Engineering.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel

· Experience in construction and/or construction support is an asset

· Proficiency in AutoCAD is an asset

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (CSA, IEEE etc.) preferred

· Valid Class 5 Driver's License
