About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Sales Director to help veritree develop sales strategies, accelerate new customer acquisition, oversee the execution of sales plans, and coach the sales team to achieve their goals. Reporting directly to the Co-Founder and Head of Partnerships, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales leadership, preferably in a technology company, a deep understanding of scaling operations to the $30MM ARR level, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team. This position is based in Vancouver, Canada and will require approximately 10% international and domestic travel.

Key outcomes for this role in the next 12 months include:

  • Establishing a scalable approach and operation for outbound lead generation and qualification.
  • Ensuring Account Executives generate a positive ROI within six months of their start date.
  • Developing a sales operation capable of scaling to $30M in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
What will you be doing?

Sales Strategy Development:

  • You will develop and implement strategic sales plans that align with the company's business goals.
  • You will define the Sales department's objectives, metrics, and targets and identify key market segments and potential clients.

Sales Team Leadership:

  • You will lead, motivate, and mentor a high-performance sales team.
  • You will set individual and team sales targets and monitor performance.
  • You will conduct regular sales meetings and training sessions to ensure ongoing improvement.

Business Development:

  • You will drive business development activities to expand the company's customer base.
  • You will build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • You will negotiate and close major sales opportunities with prospective clients.

Sales Operations Management:

  • You will build a scalable sales operation for veritree, and iterate as customer signals and business needs demand.
  • You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Sales department.
  • You will monitor and analyze sales performance metrics.
  • You will prepare and present sales forecasts, reports, and budgets to senior management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • You will work closely with Marketing, Product Development, and other departments to ensure alignment across the organization.
  • You will provide feedback to veritree executives regarding market trends and competitive intelligence.

Continuous Improvement:

  • You will stay updated on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
  • You will recommend improvements to sales processes, strategies, and products.

Requirements

Professional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as Head of Sales in a fast-growing technology company
  • Over 6 years of proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets, with a track record in establishing and driving the sales process from planning to closing, and negotiating recurring commercial agreements.
  • Experience building sales operations to the $30M ARR level of scale.
  • Ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services.
  • Ability to position sustainable products against competitors.
  • Experience in the nature-based solutions space is an asset.

Typical On Target Earnings for this position is up to $250,000 per year, consisting of a base salary of $120,000-$150,000 plus a variable sales bonus. The final salary offer will be based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
