We are looking for a Mechanical Designer who will be responsible for designing various mechanical devices that will be vital in developing machinery and/or large structures and working closely with our team of Project Managers, Shop Personnel to ensure project success. We are looking to add someone to our team who is a lateral thinker, able to navigate complexity and embrace ambiguity. Key Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of custom projects which include items such as conveyors, platforms and other components used primarily in the food and pharma industries
  • Using layout diagrams, sketches, and notes to create 3D drawings of equipment
  • Participate in Kickoff meetings, liaise with Project Managers, and other stakes holders to ensure project success throughout the project
  • Taking ownership of projects, sticking with them from concept to design, fabrication, and installation
  • Develop extensive knowledge of product line, preferred practices, and all applicable industry standards
  • Regularly communicate project status with key stakeholders
  • Lead and contribute to product development, product realization and continuous improvement projects by working cross functionally with the Innovation and Manufacturing groups
  • Always conduct oneself in a professional manner in alignment with Company values, including but not limited to language use, attire, and workmanship
  • In accordance with Company policy and relevant employment legislation, overtime and work outside of regular hours, and being on call may be required at the discretion of the Company
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Key Qualifications

  • College Diploma / University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar preferred
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of Mechanical Design experience, preferably in a custom manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Solidworks (or similar 3D software) and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks PDM preferred
  • Design experience with exposure to structural and or stainless steel product
  • Familiar with working with weldment functions, sheet metal functionality within a 3D software
  • Ideally have had experience working with conveyor systems and or sanitary equipment used in the food industry
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work with engineering teammates and shop floor staff
