About New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, Inc.
The New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, Inc. ("NBYO") is a leading Canadian orchestral music program for children and youth. NBYO operates an integrated network of programs including: local children's orchestras (Sistema NB, Canada's largest El Sistema-inspired, free, daily after school orchestral music program in 10 centres across the province); three regional youth orchestras (Moncton, Saint John, Miramichi); a provincial youth orchestra (the award winning 85 member New Brunswick Youth Orchestra); and a professional orchestra of our Teaching Artists (Tutta Musica Orchestra). Serving over 1,100 children and youth each year, our mission is, 'to inspire children and youth to achieve their full potential through learning and performing orchestral music'.
The NBYO is embarking on its most aggressive expansion plan in its history,'10,000 Children', the vision, plan and campaign to double in size to more than 2,000 children and youth served each year and to help bring about generational change in child poverty levels in New Brunswick over the 15-year life of the plan.
Founded in 1965, the NBYO is a not-for-profit corporation and registered charity, and one of the largest employers of professional musicians in Atlantic Canada.
