As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Director of Food Services to lead our food services team in delivering high-quality nutrition and a positive dining experience for our residents. What You'll Do:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the food services department, ensuring high standards of nutrition, food safety, and customer service.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement policies that enhance care quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote innovation within the food services department.
  • Lead and participate in strategic planning to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Manage and mentor a team including cooks, dietary aides, and the clinical dietitian.
  • Conduct performance reviews, support professional development, and foster a positive team environment.
  • Oversee recruitment and staffing, ensuring team members are well-trained and fully supported.

Food Services Management

  • Plan and review weekly menus with input from the clinical dietitian and kitchen staff.
  • Oversee food ordering, inventory management, and budget adherence.
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met through regular audits and training.
  • Coordinate food service for special events and resident catering needs.

Dietary Support

  • Assist the clinical dietitian with resident assessments, care plans, and dietary modifications.
  • Ensure all residents receive personalized, high-quality nutrition care that aligns with their individual needs.

What You'll Bring:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition, with completion of a dietetic internship from a recognized program.

Licensing: Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians (NSCDN) and adherence to professional ethics.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a dietitian, preferably in a long-term care setting.

Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate across departments.

Certifications: Food Handlers Course required. Additional certifications in Palliative Care, Alzheimer's, or dysphagia management an asset.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks associated with the role.
