Managing Director

Do you have a proven record in non-profit leadership and a passion for making a difference in your community? If you answered YES, you may be our next Managing Director. In this role, you'll support the values and mission of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation by raising funds, engaging with donors, developing and managing funding programs, and working to improve health care across Cumberland County.

You are an outgoing and organized professional with a talent for effectively raising funds, coordinating events, and supervising a team, we want to hear from you. As our ideal candidate, you will support our foundation's charitable initiatives, including administering our patient assistance funds and overseeing two retail enterprises (coffee and gift shops), all while championing the mission of our organization by engaging our supporters, volunteers, and clients.

Position Overview

The MD, responsible to the Board of Directors, provides strategic leadership, oversees all aspects of the Foundation's operations, implements fundraising campaigns, coordinates fund-related programs, provides effective communications internally and externally, and stewards donor gifts. The Managing Director supervises the position of the full-time Development Officer, and Coffee Shop staff.

Key Priorities for the Role:

· Financial management and accountability

· Fundraising and stewardship of gifts

· Program and project management

· Community relations

· Human resource management

Major Responsibilities:

· Development and implementation of strategic and operational plans

· Financial management: budgeting, financial reporting, AP/AR, payroll, remittances, benefits administration, and risk management. Ensure compliance with donor intent, policies, and regulations

· Charitable program development, implementation, and support

Human resource management

· Communications: website and social media, marketing materials, funding proposals, annual newsletter, press releases, and community-based presentations

· Relationship building with donors, hospital staff, Health Authority, community partners, government

· Privacy adherence: discretion and confidentiality

Required Education and Experience:

· Possess a university degree appropriate to the position, or equivalent education and experience

· Minimum of 3 years' experience in fund development management and work with a not-for-profit

· Superior communication skills (both written and verbal) and well-developed interpersonal skills

· Experience in human resource management

· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is essential

· Financial acuity. Familiarity with Sage Accounting is desirable

· Raisers' Edge data management experience considered an asset (training available)

· Knowledge of CRA charity regulations

· Having a working knowledge of the healthcare system, particularly in rural environments is an asset

· Is bondable and able to pass required security clearance checks

· Possesses a valid class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Remuneration: This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $75,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience, in addition to a competitive benefits package.

The Cumberland Health Care Foundation has been the fundraising arm for the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre since 1993. In addition to raising funds through special events, memorial gifts, honorariums, gifts in kind, legacy giving, and general donations, the Foundation manages and oversees numerous healthcare enhancement programs within Cumberland County.
