St. John Ambulance for Nova Scotia/PEI is currently seeking a qualified Accounting Technician to join our busy, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office, in a one year term position.
This position is mostly office based with some options for work from home.
Role Summary
The Accounting Technician position is an integral support position within the Finance Department, providing day to day processing of transactions, cash management, operational support, front desk support, client services support, Actar cleaning and warehouse support. Responsibility for cash management, cash posting and accounts receivable and payable are critical aspects of this position. As with all Finance positions, the Accounting Technician is responsible for ensuring the security and accuracy of all physical and digital records.
Interdependencies:
This position is directly accountable to the Manager of Finance and supports the Shipper Receiver and the Customer Service team.
.Role Responsibilities
This position carries a breadth of responsibilities, including aspects of finance, cash management, data analysis and client services. Responsibilities may change from time to time based on the changing needs of the organization over time. The following should not be considered exhaustive nor unchangeable and encompasses the general areas of responsibility.
· Prepare and post relevant journal entries in support of daily and monthly transactions.
· Maintain integrity of and entries to Accounting software
· Review and post all credit card entries through integration module, ensuring accuracy and completeness
· Ensure all cash receipts are posted to client accounts on a daily basis
· Ensure all accounts payable are posted as received and maintain pre-established cheque processing schedule
· Follow up with client delinquent accounts and ensure that regular ongoing correspondence is tracked and appropriate.
· Process all data to CRM as required, ensuring accuracy of entry, completion of related tasks such as certificate creation and distribution.
· Data analysis as required
· Support product and other sales, facilitate sales to in plant clients and maintain all associated web sites
· Facilitate and prepare monthly inventory count and reconciliation.
· Ensure (and facilitate) the ordering of material, inventory, and VMR supplies as appropriate.
· Assist Manager of Finance and Management team as required.
· All other duties as assigned or introduced from time to time
Role Requirements
Where this position has a broad scope, crossing several functional areas, a wide range of skills will be required to be successful. It is anticipated that the position will demonstrate proficiency in the following skill sets:
· Formal secondary education with a focus on Accounting. A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
· An understanding of general ledger structure, function and interaction through ledger entries.
· Computer literacy is paramount as is a broad general understanding of accounting systems,, Microsoft business programs.
· Customer and client service skills are essential in this position, focused on both external and internal clients.
· Ability to effectively communicate to and interact with team member of various capacities and management responsibilities

· Exhibit a fierce attention to detail in all endeavours
