Requirements:

  • Accredited Survey or Civil Technology Course.
  • Five (5) years in municipal, surveying, building, or civil work.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and academic training may also be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applcations and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Experience with GIS applications and GeoNB would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Accela or other building permitting software would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to speak in both official languages would be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A valid Class V (5) Driver's license is required

The City of Fredericton is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Engineering Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Engineering and will provide a crucial role in coordinating, reviewing, monitoring, and advancing the processing of development and capital submissions through the Engineering Division. You will work closely with City staff from the E&O and Planning& Development departments, as well as external developers, builders, and consultants, to advance engineering requirements for building permits, development plans, subdivision plans, and capital plans through the municipal engineering approvals process.

What You'll Do:

  • The engineering technologist role coordinates, reviews, monitors and advances the processing of development and capital submissions through the Engineering Division.
  • Work closely with City staff from the Engineering & Operations and Planning & Development Departments.
  • Also works closely with external developers, builders and consultants to advance engineering requirements for building permits, development plans, subdivision plans, and capital plans through municipal engineering approvals process.
  • Reviews, processes and advances building permits
  • Responds to builder, contractor, developers, and consultants inquiries on infrastructure and record information (elevating if needed).
  • Support to internal operational divisions (Water & Sewer, Roadway Operations, Parks & Trees, Building Services and Transit) to support development advancement.
  • Coordinates Engineering's Development and Project review advancement process.
  • Municipal infrastructure plan coordination/alignment with records and GIS.
