Location: East Cumberland Lodge

Position: Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Nurse

Job Type: 0.6 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications in alignment with NSNU contract.

East Cumberland Lodge, a 74-bed Level 1-2 Long-Term Care facility, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Nurse to join our team. This is a critical role within our facility, supporting the implementation and oversight of infection control programs in alignment with current government standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement all Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) protocols and ensure adherence to government and Public Health requirements.

Monitor compliance with IPAC measures and perform regular audits.

Lead and coordinate staff education and training related to IPAC practices.

Ensure all necessary documentation and reporting to Public Health and licensing bodies are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Collaborate with and report to the Director of Resident Care to ensure that all IPAC programming aligns with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

Continuously assess and improve IPAC practices to reduce infection risks and enhance the safety and well-being of residents.

Qualifications:

Must be a licensed nursing professional in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).

LPNs and/or RNs are welcome to apply.

Current Infection Control certification or willingness to complete specialized IPAC courses promptly.

Proven experience in Infection Prevention and Control, ideally in a long-term care or healthcare setting.

Knowledge of provincial and federal infection control standards, guidelines, and Public Health reporting.

Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to educate and guide staff effectively.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
