Bilijk is looking to hire a certified and motivated individual in the housing department for day-to-day coordination and supervision of construction projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
- Carry out or oversee repairs and maintenance in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with the Maintenance and Repair Schedule
- Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, installing doors, windows, cabinets, and building structures
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, drywall, and other materials
- Work with various hand tools, power tools, and equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Manage inventory of materials and equipment needed for each project
- The ability to maintain professionalism in high stress situations
- Assigning and coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Red Seal Certification
- Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter or similar role in the construction industry
- Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, materials, and safety procedures
- Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team
- Maintain effective relationships with contractors and occupants
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Strong communication skills, organization skills, time management
- Strong understanding in First Nations culture will also be considered an asset
- Valid Driver's License
