The Town of Deer Lake is known for its vibrant community and dedication to creating a positive and engaging environment for its residents. Our emphasis is on fostering fitness, fun, and friendships. We're looking for a skilled and experienced Recreation Manager to join our Recreation Department.

Position Overview:

As our Recreation Manager, you will provide leadership and direction for our Department and report to the Director and CAO. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the development and delivery of recreation programs and supporting the growth and development of the community in alignment with service levels approved by the Council.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver recreational programs and services, focusing on youth, seniors, health and wellness, and community events.
• Promotion of leadership and volunteer opportunities within the community.
• Conduct research and prepare grant applications and fundraising proposals.
• Oversee the booking and coordination of sporting and special events in the recreation complex.
• Work collaboratively with the Director, CAO, and community groups.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in Business Management, Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field.
• At least four (4) years of experience in recreation, with at least two (2) years in a management role.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills, including experience managing employees and volunteers.
• Tact and discretion in handling requests and complaints.
• Ability to live within a fifteen (15) minute commute of Deer Lake.
• Similar employment and educational experience will also be considered.
