Reporting to the Interdisciplinary Research Chair in Mental Health of Children & Young People, the researcher will be supervised by Dr. Vickie Plourde and will be conducting community-based research within integrated youth services (IYS) in the field of mental health across New Brunswick (NB).

As part of a larger pan-Canadian movement to transform mental health services for children and youth aged 12 to 25, and their families, the researcher will also be asked to collaborate and focus on building a learning health system within IYS in NB. The research team includes a team of community experts, researchers, clinical/administrative staff, and students at the undergraduate and graduate level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement research protocols
  • Prepare ethical approval applications
  • Contribute to the preparation and writing of grant applications
  • Understand and apply the principles of Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP®) in research with First Nations
  • Participate in team meetings with various partners
  • Lead working groups (e.g., preparing upcoming meetings and activities)
  • Develop, supervise and participate in qualitative and quantitative data collection
  • Supervise and conduct data analyses and interpret the results
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination and results sharing (e.g., scientific articles and posters)
  • Supervise other students and staff members
  • Perform other tasks as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a PhD in psychology or a related field
  • Have research or work experience in the field of mental health
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in quantitative and/or qualitative methods
  • Master participatory research methods (i.e., community-based research)
  • Exhibit strong teamwork skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills

ASSETS:

  • Previous research experience in the field of youth mental health
  • Experience in collaboration research with government and community partners
  • Proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken

SALARY: Based on experience (*)

START DATE: As soon as possible

FULL TIME POSITION: 35hrs/week
