Requirements:
- Firefighter Levels 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001 or equivalent)
- Have or be willing to complete:
- NFPA 1031 - Level I & II
- NFPA 1033 - Level I & II
- Proven success in a supervisor or leadership role
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effective across various levels of municipal and provincial governments.
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial Acts, Municipal By-laws, Standards and Codes relevant to fire prevention and protection
- 10 years' experience in the Fire Service.
- Diploma in Fire Science, Emergency Management, and/or Public Administration would be considered an asset

Currently, our four (4) fire stations are serviced by career firefighters and supported by Fire Prevention and Training Divisions.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Fire Chief, the incumbent will oversee the daily operations of the Department's Fire Prevention Division, which is currently comprised of four (4) Fire Prevention Officers.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee a team of Fire Prevention Officers in all aspects of fire inspection, prevention, investigations, including focused training programs.
- Provide administrative and technical advice to the Fire Chief on operational issues within the division, and participate in the formulation of departmental policies, procedures and regulations.
- Analyze and compile statistical data for fire incidents, with regular reporting to the Office of the Fire Marshal and other public safety entities.
- Maintain the stability and integrity of Fire Department's records systems (audits and version upgrades).
- Assist in the development and implementation of fire prevention training programs, participate in fire prevention and safety campaigns, and establish and promote effective public relations.
- Assist in the recruitment and promotion of staff at all departmental levels.
- Participate in a quarterly rotating schedule for Senior Officer on-call duties.
- Serve as the department's liaison for the NB Capital District Firefighters' Association, the Office of the Fire Marshal, and other public safety entities.
- Analyze operating and financial data, compile reports and memoranda, and assist with the preparation of the division's budget and service offers.
- Other duties as assigned.
