Maintenance Worker

Position: Maintenance Worker
Location: DP Murphy Hotels, Charlottetown
Department: Operations
Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the hotel properties under DP Murphy Hotels in Charlottetown are in excellent operational condition. This role involves performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preventative Maintenance:

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on hotel systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Monitor and maintain the exterior and interior appearance of the properties.

2. Repair and Upkeep:

• Address and resolve maintenance issues in guest rooms and common areas promptly.
• Repair or replace defective equipment, fixtures, or structures as needed.
• Ensure all public spaces, back-of-house areas, and guest facilities are in proper working order.

3. Safety and Compliance:

• Follow safety standards and protocols, ensuring all repairs meet regulatory and company requirements.
• Assist with fire safety system testing and compliance procedures.
• Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.

4. Guest and Staff Support:

• Respond efficiently and courteously to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
• Maintain open communication with the front desk and management regarding completed and ongoing tasks.

5. Other Duties:

• Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and other seasonal tasks as required.
• Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours maintenance emergencies.
• Support other departments with maintenance-related needs.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in property maintenance, engineering, or a similar role preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general carpentry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
• Familiarity with workplace safety protocols and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).

Working Conditions:

• Physical role requiring standing, bending, lifting, and climbing ladders.
• Availability for weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as needed.
• Exposure to various weather conditions during exterior tasks.
