Risk Analyst

Vestcor has a full-time position available for a Risk Analyst.

Located in Fredericton, Vestcor is the largest investment manager in Atlantic Canada providing global investment management services to eleven different client groups representing approximately $21.0 billion in assets under management. We also provide administration services to eleven pension plans and four employee benefit plans.

The Risk Analyst will report to the Director Risk Management and provide support to the team's quantitative investment risk analytics, including risk modeling, execution and interpretation. Key responsibilities include evaluating risk for existing portfolios and new investment strategies, assisting in climate risk data analysis, and contributing to initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of corporate risk management systems.

The ideal candidate possesses a university degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or another related field and 1-3 years of experience of working in a financial environment, with some exposure to financial risk management. The previous achievement, or active interest in the pursuit of related professional designations such as FRM, PRM, CFA or similar is considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and tactfully, both verbally and in writing is required. Proficiency in programming languages and statistical analysis tools (R, Python, SQL) and Strong analytical and financial skills are required. Knowledge of financial market data analytics and other systems is also considered an asset (e.g. Bloomberg, MSCI Barra, Pacer, etc.).

The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, with the ability to manage competing priorities with a high degree of accuracy and autonomy. Written and spoken competence in English is required.
