Are you passionate about advancing medical research and improving patient care? The NBHC's research department at the Saint John Regional Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team. As a Research Assistant, your role will be crucial in clinical studies across cardiac surgery, clinical cardiology, and translational medicine.

Responsibilities:

· Comply with Horizon Health policies and procedures, maintain patient confidentiality and always operate within GCP framework.

· Prepare IRB applications and other regulatory submission documents as required.

· Assist in the development of research protocols, grant applications, and research proposals.

· Collaborate with hospital staff and external partners to recruit research participants and ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.

· Prepare and maintain research documentation, including consent forms, case report forms, and study-related correspondence.

· Recruit patients into studies (including consenting, maintaining logs, etc.)

· Administrative tasks: printing packages for studies as needed, mail outs, answering calls.

· Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on the progress of research projects.

· Assist with social media management and engagement.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, medical sciences, nursing) is required.

· Proven experience in coordinating research projects in a healthcare or academic setting.

· Familiarity with research methodologies, data collection, and statistical analysis.

· Knowledge of ethical considerations and regulations related to clinical research (e.g., ICH-GCP, Tri-Council Policy Statement).

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and researchers.

· Proficiency in using computer software for data management and analysis (e.g., MS Excel, SPSS, SAS).

· A high level of attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all research-related matters.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

· Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, establish project timelines and track multiple deliverables.

· Demonstrated time management and organizational skills

· Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

· Ability to prioritize and schedule work assignments.

· Ability to work well independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment.

· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet communications.
